let joyful communication take flight!
Jennybird Speech & Language offers the full spectrum of speech-language evaluation and therapy services.
My name is Jenny Siler (she/her) and I am a licensed and nationally accredited Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
Communication rights and justice are at the core of my practice. Using a neurodiversity affirming framework, I identify a child’s strengths and fully understand a family’s values to develop an intervention plan that celebrates the unique way each human grows and develops.
About Jennybird
My Background
My name is Jenny Siler (she/her) and I was born and raised in Seaside, Oregon. I now live in East Portland with my spouse, 5-year old child, and a senior cat, along with other family members close by.
My passion for a neurodiversity affirming and strengths-based therapy framework has grown from my own lived experiences as a learner in school, as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) working in education and hospital systems, and through ongoing professional development.
I began studying Communication Sciences after my liberal arts degree in Photography from Bard College. In 2011 I received a Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences from the University of Oregon. From there I spent the first decade of my career in the medical SLP field, with valuable experience at Portland Veterans Administration, Providence Portland Medical Center, and Legacy Emanuel Hospital. In 2020 I transitioned into public education, serving as an SLP for several elementary schools in the Parkrose School District until opening my practice in the Fall of 2024. I entered into the education field at the height of the pandemic, where I learned to be flexible with service delivery and engage learners with highly motivating virtual sessions. My love for assistive technology led me to dive deeper into Universal Design for Learning and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) after noticing all of the barriers students with disabilities and their families face accessing on-time communication supports in the public school and medical systems.
