Building Communication & Connection Through Tabletop Role-Playing Games (like Dungeons & Dragons!)

Speech Quest is a social group led by a licensed speech-language pathologist and certified therapeutic game master. Using games like Dungeons & Dragons, neurodivergent kids and teens build communication and social skills while embarking on epic adventures.

Why Speech Quest Works

Through tabletop role-play, kids will:

  • Practice skills like narrative language, problem solving, perspective-taking, and emotional regulation.

  • Build real friendships through shared stories and teamwork.

  • Strengthen communication in a fun, motivating environment.

How It Works

  • Individualized focus: Through screening and interviews, players are matched to peers that share their interests. These passions are also incorporated into the game. Groups are kept small (up to 5 players).

  • Accessible play: Sessions are designed with visuals, objects, maps, breaks, and flexible supports. This is a fidget-friendly space!

  • Parent connection: Families receive updates, a story recap, and strategies to continue skill-building at home.

Who Can Join?

Speech Quest is for neurodivergent kids, teens, and young adults who:

  • Benefit from structured, supportive opportunities to practice speech, language, or social skills.

  • Need a new, authentic way to connect with peers.

Community-Supported Pricing

Our current healthcare system is simultaneously expensive and inadequate in meeting the needs of both people seeking care and those providing it. This extends to critical work on speech, language, and social skills. To help mitigate these inequities, Speech Quest uses a community-supported pricing structure to make the program more financially accessible while ensuring that it remains sustainable.

Families select the rate that best reflects their current financial circumstances. No income verification is required.

Tuition is billed at the beginning of the campaign or through 3 installments, with the first installment securing your spot. Tuition includes an 8-week campaign (averages to $56.25 / session), a custom bespoke miniature for your player’s character, and all materials needed to play.

Pay-It-Forward Rate - $563 (125%)

This rate covers the full cost of your child’s participation and creates a 25% credit toward another child’s reduced Speech Quest fee.

Standard Rate - $450 (100%)

This rate reflects the true, sustainable cost of providing Speech Quest, including group facilitation, staffing, planning, materials, documentation, administrative time, and program overhead. Please select this rate if it is financially comfortable for your family.

Community Rate - $338 (75%)

This rate is intended for families for whom the Standard Rate would prevent participation or create significant financial strain. Community Rate spaces are limited and depend on available Pay-It-Forward credits and program funding. To request the Community Rate, please email jenny@jennybirdslp.com. No financial documentation is required.

Pay-it-Forward: community-building, not charity

The Speech Quest model exists to fill a gap in additional services and supports that children need but lack the coverage to pursue. Because sessions are not considered treatment based on current medical policies and coverage models, we are not able to bill medical insurance at this time. And while Jennybird Speech & Language is a for-profit LLC, Speech Quest is a passion project; a learning and social group with a community-building focus. Your Pay-It-Forward payments are a form of mutual aid to ensure people at all income scales can participate, but they are not tax deductible charitable donations and do not affect registration priority, group placement, or the services a child receives. 100% of pay-it-forward resources are set aside to support those who need it.

Which Rate Should I Choose?

Please consider the Standard or Pay-It-Forward Rate if paying that amount is financially comfortable for your family.

Please consider the Community Rate if paying the Standard Rate would prevent your child from participating or would require your family to sacrifice essential needs.

We recognize that income alone does not capture every family’s circumstances. Disability-related expenses, caregiving responsibilities, debt, medical costs, family size, and access to financial support may all affect what is affordable.
