Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
Are you looking for more options for your child to effectively communicate their ideas? AAC may be what you are looking for!
AAC is a mode of communication ranging from lite-tech options (e.g. communication boards) to high-tech options (i.e. speech-generating devices such as iPads).
In order to provide your child with an appropriate communication system, an SLP can conduct an evaluation in a natural and play-based environment to make clinical observations, explore different AAC options, and gather caregiver and/or other stakeholders input.
Once an evaluation is completed, the SLP can select AAC options to trial over the span of several weeks before assisting with the AAC funding process, if warranted.
Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) can be a game changer in finding your child’s voice. This process starts with a 60-minute evaluation to explore different AAC options in a play-based environment and gather important information from the caregiver. The trial phase comes next where we will trial a few options over the span of 4-6 weeks before helping you navigate the funding process.
