Speech-Language Evaluations

A comprehensive Speech-Language Evaluation helps guide intervention by revealing a child’s communication strengths, abilities, and support needs. It is the first step to begin therapy or to justify services through insurance. I take a neurodiversity affirming, dynamic approach to assessments, knowing children show their best selves when they are comfortable and that standardized tests fall short in revealing the full picture of communication abilities. My assessment prioritizes connection and input from the child and their family. In addition to standardized testing, I use evidence-based measures such as language samples, play observations, games, story-telling, child/caregiver interviews, and input from teachers and other providers.
